Which lights should you rent for your shoot? That depends on what you're filming and where. Here are our lights, their prices, and what to take for each kind of shoot.
What we have
- LED 800 Pro (bi-colour), ₦8,000 a day. Bi-colour means its white light can go warmer or cooler, here from 3200K (warm) to 6500K (cool). You can dim it, and we have four.
- SUTEFOTO P100 RGB, ₦10,000 a day. RGB stands for red, green and blue, which it mixes to make almost any colour. It's controlled from an app and used for colour effects.
- 800W Redhead, ₦5,000 a day. An older type of light with a tungsten bulb, and it gets very hot.
- Light stands, ₦3,000 a day each. We have four.
- Reflector and holder. The 5-in-1 reflector, and a holder and arm at ₦5,000 a day so nobody has to hold it.
What to take
Interviews and talking heads
Two LED 800 Pros. One is your key light, the main light on the face, and the other is your fill, a weaker light that brightens the shadow side. Add the reflector for more fill and you've got a clean, easy setup with no colour-matching problems.
Music videos and shoots with a colour look
The RGB light plus at least one bi-colour panel. The RGB adds the colour, and the bi-colour gives you plain white light to build on.
Big spaces and night scenes outdoors
The 800W Redhead. It gets hot, but it gives a lot of light for the price.
Power
The LEDs use little power, but you'll still need sockets or a generator. The Redhead draws 800W, so it needs mains power or a big enough generator, and a small inverter won't do.
A videographer booked for an evening event in a big compound in Gwarinpa, for example, will probably need the Redhead, because the space is so large. Before the day, ask the venue what generator they have. If it can't carry 800W, plan around the LED panels instead.
Colour temperature
Colour temperature is how warm or cool white light looks, measured in kelvin (the K). Mixing warm tungsten light with cooler daylight often makes footage hard to fix in editing. If you can't control the room's own light, take bi-colour LEDs and match them to it.
How to book
Book on the rental page, the light's own page, or WhatsApp. We hand the lights over at 8am, and they're due back by 8am the next day. Keep them longer and you'll pay the day rate again. Seven days or more gets the weekly price, and we can deliver in Abuja.
Not sure what to take? Tell us what you're shooting (an interview, a music video, an event) and we'll help you choose.
